Mixtape: Psalms

Featuring

Description

Mixtapes were awesome. You could put all of your favourite songs on one tape even if they didn’t really go together. Psalms are like a mixtape for God’s people. A collection of poetry and songs for every occasion and every emotion. They teach us how to come before God and come together with others whatever is going on in our world.

Our prayer is that Mixtape would be a season where we grow deeper in prayer and worship, on our own and together. Our prayer is that we would become people who genuinely journey with the Lord through every season of life.

Thanksgiving psalms are the opposite of laments because they praise God for the deliverance he has brought. They remind us of how important it is to not only come to God in need but to return to him with thanksgiving.

Mixtape, Part 3: Lament // Floyd Edwards

Laments take up over one-third of the psalms showing us how to be real with God when life's not so good. But laments are far more than just an expression of pain, they always come to a place of trust in the God who can deliver.

Mixtape, Part 2: Praise // Tom Field

Do you praise more with your intellect or with your emotions? Psalm 100 invites us to worship God with both - expressively, and with the knowledge of who He is and what he's done, remembering the absolute privilege it is to enter his very presence.
