My name is Sheree Fletcher and I am a trainee counsellor in my third and final year of study with Bethlehem Tertiary Institute. This year I will be on placement with Grant Conway of Te Waipuna Counselling and have connected with The Street Church to offer free counselling at their premises in Hania Street from May onwards (within certain criteria). I offer an empathetic, non-judgemental and collaborative space to explore your experiences. 

Prior to studying counselling, I worked in administrative roles in a variety of workplaces. I am a mother of three daughters and have travelled and lived overseas. When I am not studying or counselling, I like to take our dog on walks by the river, catch up with friends and sew. I look forward to connecting with you.

If you come from a traditional Christian perspective, the changes in our society around gender diversity and sexuality can be confusing and confronting. This seminar will look at how Christians can be confident in their faith while maintaining an openness to others who hold different perspectives and values.

Harvey Rees Thomas has written a 365 day devotional called The Last Adam. It is a year of daily meditations in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have a small number of these for sale at $35 each. Harvey's dedication to putting his incredible study of the life of Jesus into a format that you can glean from little and often is remarkable. We also have copies available of his devotional through Hebrews 'Sacrifice and Glory' and 100 Years on the Street. Both of these are now $20. Today we are in our third week of learning skills that we need to study the Bible well. We learn about using Bible maps and looking at the background of the book of the Bible we are reading from.

The sound tech team at Mt Vic has a vital role to play for people to encounter Jesus through our Sunday Services. Mosaic is run weekly on a Thursday morning across the Wellington Region. Women of all ages and stages meet in homes to study the Bible and share life with one another. All Locations of The Street have a nearby Mosaic group. Babies and toddlers are welcome too! We continue our series on the skills needed to study the Bible well. Today, we are looking at how the Old and New Testaments are distinct from one another and why each part is important in understanding God's big plan for His creation. We learn the difference between Old Testament commands and New Testament commands and how they relate to us as followers of Jesus today.

Today we dive into a nine week Bible series where we will be learning skills to help us study and read the Bible. We start with reading verses in context. We will learn that reading only one verse might trip us up and give a different meaning to the verse than God intended. We can combat this by reading the verses before and after to give more context to the verse.

With Waitangi Day this coming week, we are learning about God’s original design for unity, what we are seeing in our context and country now, and our hope for God’s perfect eternity.

Systematic Theology is the study of what the Bible teaches us about any given topic. It helps us to understand key concepts about God, humanity, the church and the future.

Kia ora! Kids Zone is back this week and we are excited as we look forward to everything God has in store for our kids this year. This week we are recapping our Bible series from 2023, recapping some of the main time periods, along with themes, and key events through Bible history. Over term one, we will be digging deeper into our Bibles, and we don't want to leave anyone behind. It will be a fun lesson to kick the year off.

As a church community, we are a family. And every member has a part to play.

At Mt Vic we have a number of roles to be filled as detailed below, but we would also love to chat with you if you have a gifting or skill in another area.

CONNECTIONS - Welcome, communion prep, car parking and security. The functions of the connections team. But the true value of this team is far beyond the tasks they complete. Creating a safe and welcoming space for services is vital!

KIDS ZONE - We are passionate about the discipleship of our tamariki. We need two people to join each Kids Zone team. Build relationships and help children become total followers of Jesus Christ. Creche (0-2 yrs) , Younger (3 yrs - school year 4) and Older (School years 5-8)

WORSHIP - Ryan is especially keen to talk to anyone interested in media and sound. Full training is available.

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER - There is always a lot going on at Mt Vic and we would love to hear from someone who is interested in keeping our people connected through social media and the website.
