Easter Camp!

We are super excited to be able to offer our very own Easter Camp this year! We pray it'll be a time of relationship, joy and ultimately intimacy with our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

We would LOVE for all youth at our church to come to what will be a foundational weekend away, so please be inviting others as well to register ASAP! We believe as leaders that this is an incredible opportunity for outreach, and a fantastic way for the youth to engage with upwards inwards outwards and onwards.

Job Vacancy

At The Street we have a team of dedicated staff members who support our Locations in many different roles.

We are looking for a Life Group Central Lead for a 20-hour-per-week, fixed term, maternity leave cover for 12 months as Anna Watson takes time to welcome their third child. Working as part of the Central Ministries Team, this role is responsible for overseeing our Life Groups and Connections ministries, connecting with the Local Leads across our Locations.

Foundations

Foundations is a guide to help anyone develop personal spiritual practices around reading the Bible, talking to God in prayer and helping others to discover Jesus too. This resource is designed for small group settings of 1:1 or 1:2 people and is great for anyone who is new to faith or who has never been intentionally supported to discover who Jesus is and obey what he says. Wednesday 2nd April - Guys’ Breakfast 7-8am
An informal weekly men’s breakfast to hang out and connect. This is held either at Maranui or L'affare in town, depending on where people need to be for work. It is organised on a WhatsApp chat so if you are interested talk to Dan SIlvester to be added or email east@thestreet.org.nz

Wednesday 2nd April - Community Dinner - 5.30pm
Every Wednesday, at Strathmore Community Centre, we run a free dinner for our local community as a way of being a blessing to the people of these suburbs- anyone is welcome. (If you’d like to help with this, even if it’s just occasionally, please get in touch - jenny.gill@thestreet.org.nz)

Are you or someone you know interested in learning more about life, faith and Jesus? Alpha is a warm, friendly course where everyone is welcome. Over some food, explore what the Christian faith is all about through a series of dynamic videos and open discussion. This course will run fortnightly on Tuesdays in Miramar. Yukio's afternoon tea talking about Sudan

The current conflict in Sudan has received relatively little attention in the Western media, despite the displacement of 8.2 million people. Yukio recently served as a doctor at Mother of Mercy Hospital in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan over April-May 2024 and December 2024-February 2025, assisting the long-term staff. He will talk about his experiences at 2pm, Sunday 30th of March 2025. Venue 99A Tannadyce St in Strathmore. Afternoon tea will be provided. Simon and Jenny are committed to continuing the journey as we learn about Te Ao Māori and what this means for us as a church whānau. This is not a quick, neat project we are racing through, but rather a longer journey of relationship building, learning and prayerful consideration.

As part of the refugee resettlement project, we have had the opportunity to connect with iwi and begin a relationship to learn and understand Te Ao Maōri, especially as it relates to the areas of Wellington where we as The Street Church gather.

The format of this will consist of a number of haerenga (journey) around Wellington on Sunday afternoons over 2025 and potentially into 2026.

The first opportunity is Sunday 6th April 1pm - 5pm (Location TBC, but will be somewhere in the Petone region)

If you would be interested in deepening your understanding and walking this learning journey with Simon and Jenny, please email mel.lienert@thestreet.org.nz by 23th March. There is a maximum capacity for the group, so once all the available spaces are filled the group will be closed.

Join The Massive Youth Group for Easter Camp this year!

We are doing our very own camp this year. It is going to be a time of fellowship, fun and connecting with God over the Easter Weekend. We will have lots of different activities, services and more!

Together is a significant moment as all six of our Locations gather in one place.
We are praying that this would be a moment of powerful encounter with the Lord as we worship Him together as one church.

Where: Wellington College, 15 Dufferin St, Mt Victoria (there are no services running at Locations)
Date: Sunday May 18
Time: doors open at 9:30am, please be seated by 10:00am. The service finishes at 12:00pm.
Community: After the service a BBQ will run with time to connect with one another. Please come prepared with a koha for a sausage. All proceeds will contribute to the Missions Exposure Trip to Thailand.

BIBLE TEACHING: Jesus washes the disciples’ feet - John 13:1-17
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the conclusion of this lesson, children will:

  • Hear that we (and the Jews) have ideas about what a King should be like

  • Know that Jesus was a King that didn’t fit these ideas, he served us

  • Understand that Jesus is our example of servant-heartedness

MAIN POINT: We can practice the Fruit of the Spirit
BIBLE SCRIPTURE: Galatians 5:22
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Hear that we can practise and want more fruits of the spirit 

  • Know two fruits of the spirit 

  • Understand that the fruits of the spirit are helping us to be more like Jesus

Life Groups

Life Groups really are the heart of our church. They are small groups of people who can encourage one another as we all seek to follow Jesus together. They are spaces where you have the opportunity to get to know people on a deeper level than will ever be possible at a Sunday service. They are places where you can dig into the Bible together and pray for one another. If you are not in a Life Group and you’d like to be, please get in touch and we would love to help you find one.

Baptism

Jesus clearly instructed us that when we repent and choose to follow him, baptism is the first step in that new life of following him. If you haven’t been baptised and would like to be, please get in touch and we’d love to talk to you about it. Email east@thestreet.org.nz or talk to your life group leader or Simon and Jenny.

Giving financially to your local church is a Biblical principle that is key to training each of our hearts in generosity and is a declaration that money is not our master. The money you give here is used to lead and operate this location of The Street, but also more widely to support The Street as it seeks to reach Wellington with the gospel. It also helps support several national ministries and international missions.
