Multiply - a series not to miss!

Our Vision is to become a disciple-making movement transforming Wellington and the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

But what will it take to achieve this vision, and what will our church look like when we get there?

Over the month of March, Simon and Jenny will lead us through a series called Multiply. It's an exciting and inspiring series about the future and the part we can all play in seeing the vision become a reality. These are weeks you do not want to miss.

East Ladies casual book club

A few of us are going to be reading Sam Allberry's book One with my Lord together. Written as 8 short devotional chapters, it's a chance to think more deeply about what it means to live "in Christ" as followers of Jesus. We will read it and then meet to chat about our observations so that we can grow in Christ, together. They welcomed Lani Neve into their family at the end of January and plan to return to Mexico around the end of March. Gateway Baptist Kids Club

Gateway Baptist have asked us to extend an open invite to all families to their event at Kilbirnie Rec Centre. This is what they say: We have hired Kilbirnie Rec Centre on Sunday 2 March, 2.30 – 4.30. This is an open invitation for the local churches to come and join us. We would like you to share this information with families in your churches and invite them along. You are also most welcome to join in the fun. Phil in the past has come along and put on his skates and shot some hoops with the youth and children. We see this as a great opportunity for church families to come together, for the children to see the church family is bigger than just those in their own church, and it’s a great afternoon of fun.

Rhythms Of Grace, Part 5: Generosity - Mark 10:17-31

Sunday 23rd February - 12pm-1:30pm - Youth (Year 9-13)
Each month, the youth at The Street East meet after church on a Sunday for some kai and fun. Any youth Years 9 to 13 are welcome to join us! Our venue and activities vary - please contact Caroline Woon at worldofhippos@hotmail.com for full details. Please note that this year Youth will be primarily led by Caroline (with Timothy supporting).

Our upcoming and first session of 2025 is on Sunday 23 February 12pm - 1.30pm. We'll have pizza at Caroline's place. Look forward to seeing you there if you can make it!

Tuesday 25th February - Women’s Breakfast - 7am
An informal weekly women’s breakfast, meeting at Swimsuit Coffee on Park Road. Contact hannah.silvester@thestreet.org.nz for more info.

Wednesday 26th February - Guys’ Breakfast 7-8am
An informal weekly men’s breakfast to hang out and connect. This is held either at Maranui or L'affare in town, depending on where people need to be for work. It is organised on a WhatsApp chat so if you are interested talk to Dan SIlvester to be added or email east@thestreet.org.nz

Wednesday 26th February - Community Dinner - 5.30pm
Every Wednesday, at Strathmore Community Centre, we run a free dinner for our local community as a way of being a blessing to the people of these suburbs- anyone is welcome. (If you’d like to help with this, even if it’s just occasionally, please get in touch - jenny.gill@thestreet.org.nz)

At the conclusion of this lesson, children will:

  • Hear that God loves a cheerful giver

  • Know that we can be generous in many ways

  • Understand that they can be obedient to God’s calling of generosity and participate in his plan for his Kingdom!

Life Groups

Life Groups really are the heart of our church. They are small groups of people who can encourage one another as we all seek to follow Jesus together. They are spaces where you have the opportunity to get to know people on a deeper level than will ever be possible at a Sunday service. They are places where you can dig into the Bible together and pray for one another. If you are not in a Life Group and you’d like to be, please get in touch and we would love to help you find one.

Baptism

Jesus clearly instructed us that when we repent and choose to follow him, baptism is the first step in that new life of following him. If you haven’t been baptised and would like to be, please get in touch and we’d love to talk to you about it. Email east@thestreet.org.nz or talk to your life group leader or Simon and Jenny.

Giving financially to your local church is a Biblical principle that is key to training each of our hearts in generosity and is a declaration that money is not our master. The money you give here is used to lead and operate this location of The Street, but also more widely to support The Street as it seeks to reach Wellington with the gospel. It also helps support several national ministries and international missions.
