Jesus said his followers would share the good news about him in their neighbourhoods, across their country, and all over the planet.
He also said people would recognise them by the way they cared for each other and the people in their communities. The Street was founded on this mission, and we’re as passionate as ever about making a difference.
Local Outreach
One of the most important ideas in Christianity is that we should love our neighbours as much as we love ourselves.
We think that starts with each of us taking personal responsibility for sharing the good news about Jesus Christ with the people around us.
It’s also the idea behind the way we’ve set our church up. Instead of growing in one big location, we’re setting up new gatherings in neighbourhoods around the Wellington region, so it’s easier to connect and contribute to our communities.
In partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP), The Street provides a free debt counselling service, working with people to create a budget that prioritises food and rent. Year after year, we have helped many individuals and families work their way out of debt and hear the good news about Jesus Christ.
For more information about the help we provide with CAP, or to get involved please contact cap@thestreet.org.nz.
Global Outreach
From sharing the love of Jesus Christ with the person next door, it’s a hop, skip and a jump to serving in other countries and cultures.
Right now people from The Street are serving in Australasia, Africa and Asia. They do everything from flying planes and translating Bibles to rescuing children from neglect and prostitution. We’re in constant awe of the way God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. These are special partnerships for us.
Could this be you?
Spending time in another country as part of a local mission can be a life-changing experience, and sometimes a springboard for something more. There are lots of different ways to get involved. We’d love to help you explore where God might be leading you.
Please contact missions@thestreet.org.nz if you'd like to get involved with global outreach or to subscribe to our email newsletter and keep up to date with our missionaries.
Missionaries
The Street Church supports a number of missionaries, serving both locally and across the globe. If you’d like to receive quarterly updates from our missionaries with stories and prayer points, please email missions@thestreet.org.nz to subscribe to our Missions Newsletter, or pick up a paper copy at you local service.
