Haere Mai

It’s Labour weekend and hopefully you are getting the opportunity to take some time out. Taking a break is a principle throughout Scripture which was established right in the beginning when God rested on the seventh day (Genesis 1:3). It was also reflected in the law of Israel and known as the Sabbath. What I love about this is that it wasn’t just a passive break from the regular tasks and chores - it was an opportunity to remember. In Deuteronomy 5:15, God calls Israel to remember what He had done for them in rescuing them out of slavery. They were now able to have a day off (not something slaves could do) and it was God who had brought this about.

I wonder what you’re grateful to God for? I wonder what He has done in you and for you? As we find moments to rest and refresh, let’s also remember. It might be as simple as a private prayer or note in a journal. It could be sharing around a meal table. However you do it - let’s all use the rest to remember.

Missions Prayer: Rachel Duff

Praying for our Missionaries: Rachel Duff

We love hearing from our missionaries and supporting them in prayer - check out what’s happening for Rachel.

Hi everyone,

For those who don’t know me: I’m Rachel and I grew up in the lovely Palmy North, studied in Dunners and then making The Street my home, I worked in Wellington for 5 years as a Physiotherapist. Last May I quit my job and travelled up through South America finishing in Mexico where I completed a Discipleship school at a YWAM base in Mazatlan. Making my way home in Feb 2020 I planned to work for 6 months in the mighty Naki (where my folks live) then make my way back to Mexico to volunteer on their medical ship and brigades.

Needless to say Covid has delayed the plan a wee bit but I feel at peace staying in NZ and continuing to prepare myself for Mexico as much as possible.

I've been very blessed to have such amazing parents to 'shelter' me over this time and a great job. I know this is where i am supposed to be for a time but am just waiting for things to open back up. Mexico is not in great shape currently but the Mazatlan base is up and running and trying to function as best they can.

Hasta luego amigos

Giving

Giving financially to your local church is a biblical principle that is key to training each of our hearts in generosity and is a declaration that money is not our master. The money you give here is used to lead and operate this location of The Street, but also more widely to support The Street as it seeks to reach Wellington with the gospel. It also helps support several national ministries and international missions.
If you give financially to The Street; thank you. If you don’t yet give financially and would like to find out more about how you can start, check out the information below.

Marriage Builder

Married couples have had very different lockdown experiences. Some marriages are thriving, others are struggling, and others could just do with a tune-up. We've put together some thoughts and reflections to build into your marriage:

Prepare to Parent

Parenting is a word bursting with meaning and pregnant with possibilities! Every journey of parenting is breaking new ground. Prepare to Parent is a course designed to inspire and equip you as you navigate this new path and to give you time and space to discover some of what lies ahead.

We are about to run The Street's very own Prepare to Parent course for the very first time at East.  Due to the lock down, it's going to look a little different to how we expected it to, but we are so excited for parents to be equipped and inspired by this course. Starting very soon!

Genesis: a closer look

In our Sunday services, we're looking at the book of Genesis. We know this book raises lots of questions.

To help you explore, we're creating a set of short companion videos for this series. You'll find them on the Resources page of The Street website, under the Media menu.

We'll be releasing the videos as we go along. The first one is live right now! It looks at how science supports the big idea behind Genesis chapter one.
