The shared lunch team needs you!

The monthly shared lunches are a wonderful addition to our gatherings at Mt Vic. They have helped create space to get to know each other and share more deeply together.

In order for the shared lunches to continue, we need to grow the team.

We need two additional ‘point people’ who are willing to take the lead once every four months, as well as four people to join the set up team and four people to join the pack down team. The set up and pack down team members will then be able to be rostered 2-3 months.

Please email Mel Lienert on mel.lienert@thstreet.org.nz to register your interest. The lunches on 29th Sep or 27th of Oct would be a wonderful time to get stuck in!

CAP client in need, can you help?

Expressions of love can be shown in many different ways. Often, extending the love of Jesus is practical. Meeting a felt need of someone. Through the incredible ministry of CAP we are able to come alongside someone experiencing crippling debt and be part of their journey to financial freedom.

Our CAP debt centre manager, Merrie, is currently supporting a client and her two teenage daughters who have a few specific needs and we would love to be able to meet these for her. Please get in touch with office@thestreet.org.nz if you are able to help in any way.

He Tatau Pounamu: Treaty of Waitangi as a Covenant of Reconciliation

We are at a decisive moment as a nation, a time when the agreement by which tangata whenua and tangata tiriti live together is being called into question. As a church community, we can grow in our understanding and engagement in this conversation along with our brothers and sisters among churches within Wellington.

If you are interested in learning more about The Treaty of Waitangi and the role of the church in understanding how the Treaty is he tatau pounamu—a covenant pathway of reconciliation - Karuwhā and Venn Foundation are hosting a series of public lectures with Dr. Alistair Reese, a well-respected theologian and historian. In Wellington this is taking place on the 14th of May, and you can register via the venn.org.nz website.

Seminar with Richard Black

How do we interact with and love our neighbour when we hold differing values? How do we raise children to be confident in who God has made them to be?

Join Richard Black for a seminar titled: 'Cultivating a discipleship mindset to raise the next generation in a diverse world'

If you come from a traditional Christian perspective, the changes in our society around gender diversity and sexuality can be confusing and confronting. This seminar will look at how Christians can be confident in their faith while maintaining an openness to others who hold different perspectives and values.

Date: Saturday 22nd June Time: 9am - 3:30pm
Venue: The Street Church, 9 Hania St, Mt Victoria
Tickets: $20 per person

All people are welcome so invite your friends, neighbours, colleagues and family members.

Kids Zone - 18 Feb

We continue our series on the skills needed to study the Bible well. Today, we are looking at how the Old and New Testaments are distinct from one another and why each part is important in understanding God's big plan for His creation. We learn the difference between Old Testament commands and New Testament commands and how they relate to us as followers of Jesus today.

Kids Zone - 11 Feb

Today we dive into a nine week Bible series where we will be learning skills to help us study and read the Bible. We start with reading verses in context. We will learn that reading only one verse might trip us up and give a different meaning to the verse than God intended. We can combat this by reading the verses before and after to give more context to the verse.
